Chiswick development - ROKO

ROKO logoCSSC has submitted a planning application for the development of a ROKO health and fitness club on the Chiswick Sports Ground. A new building would include modern, attractive facilities for ROKO members including swimming pool, gym and dance studio, catering and parking. Replacing the existing pavilion, it would also include changing facilities and meeting rooms/bars for users of the playing fields and other sports facilities on site (management of which would transfer to ROKO).

CSSC believes the development would allow essentially all current uses of the sports grounds and facilities to continue, whilst also providing CSSC members with access to an exciting new modern health and fitness club on site. Extensive consultation has been carried out with CSSC users of the site in developing the proposals.

Hounslow Council approved the planning application in late 2006 but further approvals are needed from the Mayor of London before the scheme can proceed. We will keep this website updated with further information.

See www.roko.co.uk for further information about ROKO.

Roko Chiswick Bridge

In a separate development, Roko Chiswick Bridge is a new premier health club due to open soon with a range of luxury facilities and services. Exclusive founder memberships are currently available. Go to www.myRoko.com for further information.

Directions

Chiswick - main buildingsThe best way to get there is by train to Barnes Bridge Station (from Waterloo, Vauxhall or Clapham Junction). From the station (see map):

  • Cross the footbridge alongside the railway and go down the steps at the far end;
  • At the bottom of the steps turn left (not straight on along the river - if you come to the Civil Service Rowing Club boathouse, you've gone the wrong way).
  • After about 100 yards, bear right, cross the road and walk along a narrow path (not the road) just before the wall of the private tennis centre - there's a CSSC sign at the beginning of the path, pointing along the path to the Civil Service Sports Ground.

If you're coming by car, Riverside Drive is a turning off the main A316 road. Coming from the A4 at Hammersmith/Chiswick, it's the second "real" traffic lights - if you get to Chiswick Bridge you've gone much too far. Coming northwards up the A316 from Richmond, turn right at the second traffic lights after you've crossed Chiswick Bridge. The Sports Ground is the last entrance on the right before you get to the Embankment.
