London Civil Service Squash Club

Reports

Open Evening 28/09/2006

A big thank you to all participants. The Open Evening was an even bigger success than the previous one: seven new members joined on the night and received a free T-shirt. Most of the other attendees expressed interest in joining the Squash Club.

Attendees were impressed with the squash courts, gyms and facilities at the South Bank Squash Club. Thanks to them too for hosting the event.

Squash Coaching 22/08/2006 - 26/09/2006

Mark Bangs held 6 weekly squash coaching sessions at the South Bank Club during August and September 2006. Mark covered a different aspect of play in every session, explaining shots and strategies. Participants expressed satisfaction at Mark's coaching methods and interest in any future coaching that Mark might hold.

The next coaching sessions will be announced on this web site.

Finals:

The Annual Club Finals on 25 May 2006 saw some very exciting games being played, with a high level of skill and sportsmanship. Attendees had the chance to see some very good squash being played, cheered the players and enjoyed the fine food and wines prepared by the South Bank Club.

The Finals winners were:

Open: Mark Bangs bt Rob Hemmings 3-0
Vets: Bob Berriman bt George Lynch 3-0
Ladies: Pauline Wright bt Francesca Coronin 3-0
Handicap: Tim Mordan bt Simon Michaelson 2-0
Plate: Dave Torrance bt Nick Jarrett 3-1

Trophies and runner-up prizes were graciously presented by Gemma Fabian from CSSC London.

This will be an exciting year for the Club. The Committee is working hard to bring in new members and to give the Club more visibility in the Civil Service. Many proposals were made at the AGM on activities and matches for the Club, and we are working hard to bring them to you.

Why not invite a friend to join? There are remarkable financial advantages compared to joining most non-CSSC gyms or sports clubs, and you can help your friend to improve their health and fitness too! Also, watch out for offers available to new and existing members of CSSC on the CSSC London website www.cssc-london.co.uk
