Barbados Challenge Summer Sports Day - 19 July 2003
A
sizeable number of people had a great day on Saturday, 19th
July. The
weather was wonderful, and we were delighted to see a number of
families, kids etc who had come to support the competitors. The
events ran
smoothly, and everyone contributed
to a fantastic atmosphere. We’ve
a lot of happy CSSC members looking forward to their trip to Barbados.
Commiserations to the losers – but remember, they've had
another chance at qualifying at the autumn event at
Chadwick Street!
The headline results from the various event finals on the day
are as follows:
| Netball |
HASSRA London HQ beat Inland Revenue A (Charles House) |
| Tennis |
Simon Brown and Justin Kraushal (DCMS) beat Ashley Mansoor
and Clive Clancy (Prison Service) |
| Ladies 5-a-side football |
HM Customs and Excise beat Inland Revenue |
| Beach Volleyball |
“Caribbean Cruise” - HMCE – beat Pheltham’s
Phinest (MOD Feltham) |

“Hollies Defra Heroes” beat the Government Actuaries
Dept |
Other events included face
painting, pony rides, bouncy castle, giant jenga (the pictures
should help explain what that is!),
target golf (only a couple of balls went over the wall!) and
skittles, plus a children’s
sprint race (everyone
got a free ice cream!). Oh - and John Butterfield
and Mick Evans, the event organisers, were seen having a go
at tennis!
Many thanks are due to all the Departments who supported the event,
to all the event organisers, and to all the members of the
CSSC London team who played
an important part in making the day a success.
We've put together a selection of the best of the many pictures
we took on the day (they're mainly grouped by event). Click any
picture to see a larger version - or just start with the first
one, and
click through them all in sequence!
