Report
The match, due to start at 08.30, began promptly at 09.15 in the
best Barbadian tradition.
Rob and Daniel were very impressive, winning in straight sets.
Just back from winning the CSSC national team trophy in York, they
cruised through their match, winning comfortably.
In their match, Maureen and Esther fought back to win the second
set, but the Barbadian pair were too strong in the third. So everything
hinged on the mixed-doubles matches.
Barbados fielded their No. 1 international player in the first
mixed doubles, where Rob and Maureen lost in straight sets to a
very strong pair. Meantime, Daniel and Esther won in straight sets – a
great performance.
So a 2-2 draw and honours even overall. A nice touch at the end – the
Barbadian manager invited our teams to his club for a friendly
match later in the week.
