Report
Two goals from Captain Paul Lewis in the mens 5-a-side outdoor soccer competition
gave CSSC London a 2-0 win over Barbados, and completed a treble of wins for
London’s mens and ladies football teams.
Despite the early morning (09.15) kick off, the game began in 88-degree heat.
London started well, going close to scoring twice before taking the lead in
the 4th minute through Paul Lewis, who brilliantly dummied his way past a defender
before stroking the ball wide of the ‘keeper.
Early second half pressure from Barbados resulted in a series of free kicks
in dangerous positions, and the home side almost equalised when a fierce cross
shot cannoned off the far post. However, CSSC London used their rolling substitute
sensibly, defended well and always looked threatening on the break. One such
counter-attack saw Paul Lewis break through to score with 2 minutes left. London
then missed an open goal, and almost scored a third just before the end, to
run out comfortable winners.
Results
