Bowling news - London Indoor 4s results
8 teams
(32 bowling members), including teams from Royal Mail, Inland Revenue
and
Health and Safety Executive, participated in the round-robin preliminary
event at Croydon Indoor
Bowling Club on 2 March. Again this year, the semi-finals involved
two very close and exciting
finishes.
The eventual champions (Tony Lea's team) winning their
semi-final against Keith Adam's
team only after an extra end. In the other semi-final Barry Porter's
team just won by 1 shot on the
last end against Roger Spinks' IR/HMCE team.
The final, played at Cambridge Park Indoor Bowls
Club, Twickenham on 27 March, was also
an exciting match between Barry Porter's Royal Mail team (Robin
Smith, Mick Sidwell, and Peter
Staples) and Tony Lea (MOD) team - from various Departments
(Paul Cater (BT), Nick Skidmore
(IR/HMCE) and Paul Fuller).
Tony Lea's team won 15 shots
to 11 despite a succession of 'heavy'
firing bowls by skip Barry Porter. Tony Lea's team, the London
Champions, will each receive an
engraved cut glass wine goblet, and will now represent London
CSSC in contesting the CSSC UK
National Regional Finals at Nottingham Indoor Bowls Club on 25/26
April. |
