On Monday 26th October I assisted with the running of the Badminton competition for the Barbados Challenge. We received 4 entries for the ladies and 6 entries for the men.
All teams seamed eager, geared up and ready for this competition. Once play had commenced there was a fierce and friendly battle with the men’s team for domination of each game. Sweat was pouring, limbs were aching and sportsmanship ensured the games were played in good spirits with a friendly atmosphere. In the end there was only one clear team that triumphed name Abdul Malique and Alan Alexander.
The men’s tournament was very tight as number 5 the winners won all their games, number 1 who came 2nd lost only 1 game and 2, 4 & 6 all had won 2 games but they are positioned due to their match results. So it was very tight for these 3 games. Unfortunately number 3 did not win any games.
The ladies team on the other hand was friendly, calm and enjoyable as well. With the ladies only playing 3 games each, again in the end there was only 1 clear team who won all their games named Emma Julian and Ann Smith.
The women’s tournament was relatively easier as it was a straight win for number 2 winning all their games, number 4 won only 2 of their games, number 1 won only 1 of their games and number 3 did not win any games.
It was an enjoyable day for all and I was happy to be part of it.
Clive White.
