St Lucia Challenge - indoor events autumn 2008

Pop Quiz - 27 November 2008

In first place was the team "Los Paranoias", 2nd place was "Used to be good" and 3rd place was "Beatniks".

1st team got 219 points, 2nd got 186 and 3rd got 184.

Dominoes pairs - 20 November 2008

The game was pairs playing for a chance to win an exclusive trip representing CSSC London in the St Lucia Challenge. The teams were playing to the best of 5 games and it was very tense on some of the games in who would triumph. The pair who won overall was Marcia Harris and Rosanne Savoury who were the underdogs and stole the whole show by winning with an impressive 9 games compared to the second place team who scored 5.

This goes to show at times you do not need to be an expert to play this game as the luck of the draw can go in your favour. I would therefore encourage more people to attend and see. Next time it could be you.

Pool pairs - 20 November 2008

Hopefully, a very good evening was had by the twelve pairs in attendance. The standard of play was excellent and, the sportsmanship and bonhomie equally so.

In Group 1, there was a tie for top honours, with Jack McGarrigle/Simon Gundry and Mark Hunt/Mark Gibson tying on 14 points. However, Jack/Simon had won their encounter with Mark/Mark, so were the Group winners.

In Group 2, Andy Thomas/Clifford Dickens won the Group with 16 points; the runners-up were Derek Wooley/Ahad Nujurally on 11 points. (This was unfortunate for Oliver John Dark/Mike Dixon who also finished on 11 points but, had been defeated by Derek/Ahad in their Group match.)

In the semi-finals, Oliver/Mark defeated Andy/Clifford 2-0; and Mark/Mark defeated Derek/Ahad 2-1.

The final saw a rematch between Mark/Mark and Jack/Simon (who had previously met in Group 1). This time the result was reversed with Mark/Mark emerging victorious by a score of 2-0.

Congratulations to them (and good luck in St. Lucia in 2009) and to all the competitors, who made organising the event...a pleasure, not a chore...hurrah!!

Texas Hold'em Poker - 20 November 2008

After a very laborious, long and emotional st Lucia poker challenge the people who came out victorious are:

1st - Chris Keeley

2nd - Peter Cantone

The games went late into the evening with people holding their own on the last table,

Let's see how well they can do that in the st Lucian heat.

Sports Quiz - 14 November 2008

In first place was GAD made up of Daniel Selby, Mike Gerli, Andrew Hancock, Matt Wood. They won with 203 points.

However, they have just come back from st Lucia, so the second place team got the places for next year's St Lucia trip. They are the Whining Wengers, Kevin wrake, Niel Higginbottom, Alan Cox and Martin Hill. They scored 186 points.
